The Eleventh Hour

Pastor Ayokunle Fatokun (@fatoks)

As time comes to a close, anxiety heightens if ‘the did is not yet done’. This is a true reflection of anyone who expects to achieve, acquire or get something as planned or wished for at a time of the year to realize at the eleventh month or even the twelfth that he is has not achieved it yet. Naturally the heart goes weary, questions start setting in and depression takes its tabernacle at the corridor of one’s facial and verbal expression. Matt 20:1-2.

1 For the kingdom of Heaven is like a man, a housemaster, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard. 2 And when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace. 4 And he said to them, you also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you. And they went. 5 And he went out about the sixth and ninth hour and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, why do you stand here all day idle? 7 They said to him, because no one has hired us. He said to them, you also go into the vineyard, and you shall receive whatever is right. 8 So when evening had come, the lord of the vineyard said to his steward, Call the laborers and pay them their wage, beginning from the last to the first.

The eleventh hour is the moment the examiner announces its five minutes left to submission; when your boss at the work gives you a deadline or you are given the final warning to pay your rent or face evacuation and the possibility is unlikely. These may appear impossible to men but very possible before God. The heart fails because we attach time to every activity and measure its success by it. Time is a measure for man not for God. If only you can still hold on to the string of faith, trust God unwaveringly and will not be distracted by your fears and state, God will surely show up. He is best at responding at the eleventh hour [the last minute]. God can respond a minute to go and even after the time has elapsed because He is not guided nor restricted by time. Mat 19:26, Mar 10:27, Luk 18:27

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. Mat 19:26

And Jesus looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. Mar 10:27

And he said, the things which are impossible with men are possible with God. Luk 18:27

PEOPLE WHO HAD AN ELEVENTH HOUR VISITATION

  1. Abraham and Sarah; Gen 18:10-14.
  2. Zechariah and Elizabeth; Luk 1:5-13.
  3. Lazarus; John 11:1-44.
  4. Blind Bartimaeus; Mark 10:46-52.
  5. The Blind Man by the pool of Bethesda; John 5:1-9.
  6. The Widow of Nain; Luke 7:11-16.
  7. The Thief at the Cross; Luke 23:33-43.

During critical times when you need urgent intervention people may shut you up by telling you it’s over. No, don’t give in neither consider their words; the devil is only getting at you through them.

Surprises abound at the eleventh hour. Sincerely, victory is sweet when it comes after all hope is lost. You may have laboured all through the hours; the visitation of the Almighty overwhelms the labour of so many hours.

There are some things common to all these individuals who enjoyed the eleventh hour visitation. These include:

  1. God’s mercy. Mercy is deliverance from judgment. Psa 102:13, Hos 1:7, Rom 9:15-16.
  2. God’s grace. Grace is kindness from God to the unworthy and underserving. Isa 43:25.
  3. Those who once missed their opportunity.

HOW TO POSITION YOURSELF FOR THE ELEVENTH HOUR VISITATION

  1. Have faith. Heb 11:1&6, 10:38, Rom 1:17, Hab 2:4
  2. Pray effectively. Acts 12:4, Jer 33:3.
  3. Stand on the promises of God. Jer 29:11, Heb 10:23, 1 Thes 5:24.
  4. Praise and worship Him continually. Psa 103:1-2, 106:1-2, Acts 16:25-26.
  5. Surrender your heart to Jesus. Rom6:23, 10:9

CONCLUSION

Never give up on God. Satan knows and believes God will do. All he does is discourage you till your faith can no longer hold on God and His word. Don’t measure the acts of God by the human time. Time was made for man not God. 2 Cor 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Food For Thought

Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. Psa 27:3

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. Psa 37:25

Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Isa 49:15

God bless you.

A sickness free life

There is a revelation in Romans 8:11 that God used to liberate me from the grip of sickness. The drug that was given to me during the time of my sickness has the tendency to go to the wrong places, leaving the places with problems, and it will go on to the places without problems.

Look unto Jesus

Look unto Jesus

There is always the tendency for us to get distracted in life. Our eyes will go off course when we are distracted and we lose focus. The Christian life is a walk with Jesus as our focus but the cares of this life and deceitfulness of riches makes us take our eyes off Jesus. We
