The Secret Place 9

The secret place is God’s dwelling place. It is a place for Christians’ safety from the enemy. God has not left us without help and solution for life’s challenges.

Psa 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall rest under the shadow of the Almighty.

God Works In Darkness

The secret place is a place for God to work. Generally, darkness is attributed to Satan. It connotes problems and quagmires. Wherever there is a problem, it becomes God’s secret place. Your problem creates an opportunity for God to work because God works in darkness. He does wonderful things in dark places. The greatest and most awesome works of God are done in darkness. Your problem actually qualifies you to experience the power of the secret place.

Psa 18:11 He made darkness His secret place, His pavilion around Him, darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.

The greatest and most awesome works of God are done in darkness. I like to prove this point to you thus:

  1. When God was creating the heaven and the earth, He created them in darkness. Gen 1:1-4.
  2. Jesus was born in the night [in darkness]. Luk 2 2:7-9.
  3. When Jesus died there was darkness upon the earth.
  4. He resurrected also in darkness: in the early hours of the day.
  5. His second coming will be like a thief in the night. 1 Thes 5:2.
  6. The last plague God brought upon Egypt was a plague of darkness. Exo 10:21-22.
  7. God’s presence is with you in the valley of the shadow of death. Psa 23:4.

I want you to see that our problems, situations and challenges are actually God’s secret place. It is the place He chooses to do His awesome work. When things get really bad, progressively worse and they defy every solution thrown at them, know for sure that God is working in the dark. When it gets dark, then God is about to reveal His awesome power. God reveals the limitations of darkness by choosing to make it His secret place. He overpowers darkness to do His work and work His purpose. The good news of the bible is that light overpowers darkness. The way to overpower darkness is not by staying away from it, but by walking into it and overwhelming it with the light of God. Isaiah 9:1-2 and Matt 4:13-16.

Isaiah 9:1-2

1 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. 2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

Matt 4:13-16

13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali: 14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, 15 The land of Zebulun, and the land of Naphtali, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

Zebulun and Naphtali were towns known for evil [darkness], because they were close to the seashore, they were vulnerable and exposed to several attacks. Jesus went to dwell there so the prophesy of light coming in the midst of darkness might be fulfilled. Light is the only antidote to darkness, and Jesus is the light to the people who dwell in darkness. Maybe you are in darkness of sin, sickness and disease, poverty and family instability; you qualify for God’s secret place because God works in darkness. Darkness attracts God’s action.  Psa 107:10-15, Isa 42:6-7 & 16, Isa 50:10.

How Does God Work In Darkness?

  1. He reveals what is in the darkness. Darkness is not to God what it is to us. Dan 2:22, Micah 7:8.
  2. He turns darkness to light by overpowering it. Acts 26:18.
  3. He calls us out of darkness. 1 Pet 2:9, 1 John 3:8.
  4. He makes you discover darkness and gives you the deep things of darkness. Job 12:22, Isa 45:3.
  5. He works in darkness through praise and worship. God’s most creative works are done in an atmosphere of praise and worship. Job 38:7, James 1:2.

GOD IS WORKING BY HIS WORD: 1 Thes 2:11-13, John 5:15-17

11 even as you know how we exhorted and comforted and testified to each one of you, as a father to his children, 12 that you should walk worthy of God, who has called you to His kingdom and glory. 13 And for this cause we thank God without ceasing, that when you received the Word of hearing, of God, you welcomed it as the Word of God, not as a word of men, but as it is, truly the Word of God, which also effectually works in you who believe.

Darkness does not frighten God. Darkness does not mean God is not working; it actually means God is truly working unaware. Sometimes you may not need to pray, all you need do is just stand. God is working by and through His word in your life. He gives His word ahead of time so you can hold on to it, and after holding on to it, He can work. Darkness attracts Jesus and He goes to the darkest part of it.

CONCLUSION

The things of God are too precious to be thrown around. You must be really hungry and thirsty for it to have it. God is always on duty not minding the hours of the day nor the days of the week. He has chosen to work all through time because of you and I. Darkness attracts God to work for your sake. God works at odd times; that is why you can be called on Sunday for a job employment or a visa approval.

Food For Thought

If my God cannot save me nothing else can.

CONFESSION

God is working in darkness. Yes, I might not feel or be able to see it, but I know for sure that He is working for my good.

God bless you.

A sickness free life

There is a revelation in Romans 8:11 that God used to liberate me from the grip of sickness. The drug that was given to me during the time of my sickness has the tendency to go to the wrong places, leaving the places with problems, and it will go on to the places without problems.
