The truth is words are foundational, not just to the Christian life, but to life itself. Words have changed my life and it can radically transform yours too. There is no greater agent of change than the word of God and this is a thread that runs through the pages of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
We are the only creatures of God that can talk. Every other creature makes sound. Birds can sing, but man is the only one who has the capacity and capability to talk and to communicate with words. However, the freedom and special grace that God has given man has responsibilities which we may take lightly so long we do not understand it.
Many situations that we find ourselves are a product of what we said, what we are saying or what we are going to say. Also what you say is important as how you say it. The reason certain things do not change in our lives is because we do not understand that the way we are going about it does not work and we ought to change the approach.
There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof is the way of death (Prov 14;12). Most people usually try to say good things, but it is not enough to say good thongs. You must say what is right and this is what most people do not know. Sometime ago, I discussed with a retired army officer, and we talked about coups.
The army officer said something I have not been able to forget. He said that before a man can kill another man, he would have mentioned it, at least, to one person. He said no one can kill without sharing it with somebody. Everything in life is controlled by what you say. The coinage and currency in the realm of the spirit is words.
Words determine the destiny of everything. That is why Jesus Christ is called the Word of God. Everything in the world is controlled by somebody saying it. Somebody somewhere somewhat somehow will have to say it before it can happen. People don’t just do things; something will make them do what somebody has said somewhere somehow along life’s pathway. That is very true because before anything can happen in your life, you will have to say it.
