In the beginning God created man and He gave him dominion over all things. God made man His agent on the earth and he was to rule within certain regulations and commandments. Man in the Garden of Eden was made a lord and ruler under God but he lost it through deception.
It was the devil who deceived and stole authority and dominion from man in order to bring man under his influence. Those who are not born again retain this status till this moment as they belong to the kingdom of darkness. The devil has the power of death but God has the power of life.
Life is greater than death just the way light is greater than darkness. The very moment that Adam, who was the first man on earth, ate the forbidden fruit, he disobeyed God. As a result of his inaction, he fell from glory and became subject to death and diseases.
It was necessary for Jesus to come because God could not just annul Adam’s mistake because His command has gone out, and He always stands by His word to perform it. He told Adam that in the day that he eats from the forbidden fruit, he will die.
Jesus came in the fashion of a man, he was without sin. Jesus came to the earth but He was not under the authority of the devil. He humbled Himself and submitted to death on the cross of Calvary. He went to hell so that He could liberate man from the power of darkness.
Now, whoever believes in Jesus Christ will not perish but have everlasting life. Those who believe in Jesus Christ have crossed from death to life. These are new creatures made in God’s image and we belong to him. We have power over death, sicknesses, poverty and lack.
After defeating death and hell, Christ ascended on high and restored all power and authority back to us. That is why He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. Jesus Christ restored the lordship and authority of man. We have the liberty to serve God acceptably and we are citizens of His kingdom.
We do not serve the wicked plans and devices of the devil anymore because of the works of Christ. He made principalities and powers to be subject to His name and He gave us the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Christ conquered death for all who believe in Him and we are now more than conquerors!
