The last few days before Jesus went to the cross, a certain event transpired. It was during this time His disciples inquired about the instances of His second coming. Matt 24:1-14.
1 And Jesus went out and departed from the temple. And His disciples came to Him to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, There shall not be left here one stone on another that shall not be thrown down. 3 And as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said to them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, I am Christ, and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled, for all these things must occur; but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in different places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted and will kill you. And you will be hated of all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, and will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will rise and deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many will become cold. 13 But he who endures to the end, the same shall be kept safe. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all nations. And then the end shall come.
In response to their queries, Jesus engaged his disciples and helped to enunciate the happenings of the end of days (the days in which we live). Evil things that have never happened in human history are happening now. The importance of this scriptural reference is to enlighten us and avert being caught up in surprise when they happen. These evil trends¾sickness, strange diseases, wars, unwarranted killings and other vices¾are ominous of His imminent return. In spite of these terrific occurrences there is hope, refuge and provision in Christ. This provision does not avert sorrows but guarantees safety amid them.
The truth is things across the world aren’t going to get better but worse. The true solution to these traumas is in the secret place of the Most High. The days are really bad, nowhere to hide and nothing seem sure. Only the grace of God is sure in an unsure world! We are supposed to dwell in here, but sometimes we either break the hedge or just walk out of the secret place. Beware of your location because the spirit realm rages with storm reflecting in all the areas of human existence. This is inspired by Satan.
1Th 5:23-24 And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blamelessly at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faithful is He who called you, who also will do it.
Phi 3:8-9 But no, rather, I also count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them to be dung, so that I may win Christ. And be found in Him; not having my own righteousness, which is of the Law, but through the faith of Christ, the righteousness of God by faith,
Man is a tripartite being¾spirit, soul and body. God wants to sanctify and preserve this triad. Every mental and physical thing we do does not reach the spirit. Our true being is our spirit which separates from the body at the instance of death. Paul claimed he can only be found in Christ. If you are not found in Christ, then you are somewhere else unsafe. Jesus is our secure shelter. The secret place is a spiritual place because man’s enemies are sourced from the spirit then goes into the soul and body.
Psa 27:2 When the wicked, my enemies and my foes, came on me to eat my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
Man’s adversaries are of three types. The wicked¾he is spiritual¾the devil. My enemies¾operate in the soul and mental realm. My foes¾those you content with in the physical. Regardless of their ranks and levels, God has made provision to deal with them in the secret place. God wants you to dwell here and take advantage of its entire provision. Christianity brings you into a union with God. Being born again makes you His temple and dwelling place. Therefore, you are not alone. Anyone who fights you fights Him. His angels are commissioned to keep and protect you. People in union with divinity don’t walk alone. 1 Cor 6:17, 3:17, 1 Sam 49:24-26.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE IN THE SECRET PLACE?
- It means you are a new creature¾a new being united with God. You are into Christ through salvation. 2 Cor 5:17.
- You are in union with Christ¾the Anointed. The Holy Spirit is the Anointing. The Anointed bearing the Anointing dwells within you. Eph 3:17, Gal 2:20.
- You are in God. Nothing gets to you without first going through God, Christ, and then you. 1 Cor 3:23.
- You are baptized into Him. You put on Christ. Gal 3:27.
- You are an heir of God and His grace. Everything God has is yours also. Gal 4:7, 3:29, Rom 8:17.
- Positionally, you are in heavenly place. Your true location and place is not just somewhere on earth, but lofty heights in heaven. Eph 2:6.
- To be partakers of the promises in Christ Jesus. Eph 3:16.
What to do to dwell in the secret place
- Give your life to Christ and repent of your sins.
- Maintain a continuous fellowship with the Holy Spirit through prayers.
CONCLUSION
The secret place has the provision of protection, preservation and safety from sicknesses, diseases and pain. You would do well to have this protection. For the sake of earthly pleasures, people walk out of the secret place thereby losing their earthly and heavenly home. Your obedience has to be total and absolute because there is no half obedience with God. Repent of any wrong doing because repentance oils your relationship with God.
