The Word of God as Spiritual Food

Some complain that their Christian life is very boring and that nothing is happening. The reason is obvious: they are not properly nourished. They are not spending time in the reading and meditation of the word of God. Until you begin to give priority to God’s word, your Christian life will continue to be boring.

Physically, you could look healthy and well fed, but spiritually, you will be very thin and sickly if you refuse to feed upon the word of God. 1 Peter 2:2-3, “As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby.”

The word of God is likened to spiritual milk which you drink. Many of us eat three square meals a day without eating any spiritual food throughout the week. This is an attack from the devil because it is only what you hear from the word of God that will come to pass as you diligently observe it.

Deuteronomy 29:29, “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

The devil does not mind you reading the Bible as long as you refuse to do its instructions. And as long as you do not do it, you would not be blessed as you would be frustrated. James 1:22, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

The Bible is the Book of an intelligent God written to an intelligent people. It is a communication from the heart of God to His people which we should receive and do. When the devil came to tempt Jesus (Matthew 4; Luke 4), Jesus replied him each time with the Word of God.

Sit down and study the word of God from Genesis to Revelations. Create time and look for the opportunity to study the word to know what the Lord says about you. This is what will make you strong. You will be able to face the dangerous and difficult days ahead. If you are going to be blessed, the Bible must be read, studied and meditated upon.

A sickness free life

There is a revelation in Romans 8:11 that God used to liberate me from the grip of sickness. The drug that was given to me during the time of my sickness has the tendency to go to the wrong places, leaving the places with problems, and it will go on to the places without problems.

There is always the tendency for us to get distracted in life. Our eyes will go off course when we are distracted and we lose focus. The Christian life is a walk with Jesus as our focus but the cares of this life and deceitfulness of riches makes us take our eyes off Jesus. We
