Human beings are naturally driven by profit; if something offers no tangible benefit, we tend to dismiss it. Yet, the greatest profits in life are spiritual rather than material. According to Job 22:21, the foremost benefit of drawing near to the Creator is profound inner peace: “Acquaint now thyself with God, and be at peace; thereby good shall come unto thee.”
We live in a highly material world, filling our lives with possessions, careers, and temporary distractions. However, material things can never satisfy the deep, inner demands of an eternal soul. Isaiah speaks of a divine, double-portioned peace that God keeps for those whose hearts are steadfastly set upon Him. This is the peace of Shalom, nothing missing, nothing broken, guarding your mind amidst the turbulence of daily life.
Not being acquainted with God leaves individuals vulnerable to weak faith and a shallow prayer life. When you do not understand God, you tend to resist Him and question His ways. But when you anchor your soul in His presence, peace invades your heart. True tranquility is not the absence of trouble, but the presence of a faithful God who anchors your soul through every storm.
