Bible Text: Romans 13:14 | Preacher: Elder Ayo Adunola | Basically, there are two natures in every born again believer but an unbeliever has one nature. A believer has both the old nature and the new nature. The new nature operates under the direction and guidance of the Holy Spirit and it begins at the point of salvation.
These two natures have opposite desires. The desire of the sin nature is lust while that of the Spirit comes with promptings. These two natures make the Christian life a struggle. If the old nature super-imposes on the new nature, the sin nature prevails but if the new nature super-imposes on the old nature, the life of God prevails.
Romans 13:14, But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
How to overcome the sin nature:
Don’t strengthen the sinful inclination
Stay within the confines of the Holy Spirit
Feed your new nature and starve your sin nature
Conclusion:
It is not possible to love good and not hate evil. We must constantly strive to live the life of the Spirit for the law of the Spirit of life has made us free from the law of sin and death. The challenge we have in Nigeria today is not shortage of born again Christians but shortage of Christians whose souls are ruled by the Holy Spirit.
