Fear Not. It Is Well!

God in His infinite mercy and eternal kindness has lots of goodies packed for His children in His plan. In spite of this, lots of Christians miss out in His bumper provision. What could be responsible for this disconnect? A common reason is fear. The fear of God brings wisdom, life and consecration. Anything other than these is demonic and ungodly. This is the kind of fear I will be emphasizing in this subject.

Fear is an attitude. It is a spirit from Satan. Fear is a monster! Ten years ago I had a problem. The continual thought of this problem denied me sleep for four nights. Sincerely, if you don’t sleep for this long you will have a problem. I recognized this and went to see a doctor. He prescribed some drugs meant for hypertension. About the twentieth person on the queue in the pharmacy and the queue still counting, the Holy Spirit drew my attention to the issue I was there for. He asked ‘do you think this condition is meant for you’? Caught up in the thought of this question, I turned and stared at the adjacent counter where beverages were sold, there was no one there. He said that is where you should be. Friend, everyone on that queue where waiting to be administered hypertension drugs. Upon releasing this, I tore the prescription note, left the queue and never returned back till date. The fear of the problem resulted in hypertension. Fear is a problem that begets other terrible ones.

There is the case of a Shunammite woman who had no child. By her act of kindness to Prophet Elisha, she received the Lord’s kindness and was blessed with a son. At a juvenile age the lad died. It would be natural for anyone to scream in tears seeing her only child pass on. Her case was not so. Instead, she replied every comment on the matter by saying it is well! If you are a child of God and do know the sincere promises of God for you, then your confession in the midst of the storm should be a loud and resounding ¾ “it is well!’.  Faith is the panacea for fear; like the statement ‘it is well’ is a pacifier for stormy situations. 2 Kings 4:18-37.

18 And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers. 19 And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother. 20 And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died. 21 And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out. 22 And she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again. 23 And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well. 24 Then she saddled an ass, and said to her servant, Drive, and go forward; slack not thy riding for me, except I bid thee. 25 So she went and came unto the man of God to mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is that Shunammite: 26 Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well. 27 And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is vexed within her: and the LORD hath hid it from me, and hath not told me. 28 Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me? 29 Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child. 30 And the mother of the child said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And he arose, and followed her. 31 And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Wherefore he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not awaked.  32 And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed. 33 He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the LORD. 34 And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm. 35 Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. 36 And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And when she was come in unto him, he said, Take up thy son. 37 Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground, and took up her son, and went out.

Thoughts And Comments On The Life Of The Shunammite Woman

  1. All fears begin as untrue. Fear is acronymed-’False Evidence Appearing Real’. Fear comes to all men. It is your responsibility to dispel it.
  2. When there is trouble the only power to deliver is in God.
  3. Fear has the tendency to rob one of God’s blessings. John 10:10.
  4. Fear is intended to harass, oppress and torment man. Isaiah 43:1.
  5. The blame game will only aggravate the situation and entrench more fear. Job 1:20.

What To Do In The Midst Of Fear?

  1. Work by faith not by sight. Heb 10:35.
  2. Remember the promises of God and walk by it, no matter the circumstance ensure you have a scripture to say to the devil. Psalm 119:29, Isaiah 55:10-11.
  3. Don’t cease to follow God stay with God in the midst of the fear. 2 Kings 4:30, Isaiah 26:3-4, 40:10.
  4. You must recognize the source of your fear. Fear is a spirit and Satan is its source. 2 Tim 1:7, Num 14:24.
  5. Do what you are afraid of. One sure way to overcome fear is to confront it by doing something positive.
  6. Cast down your imagination of fear. Such imagination is Satan’s stronghold to hold you bound. 2 Cor 10:3-5.
  7. Have the fear of God; it will put away the fear of Satan. Psa 34:1-9.
  8. Be grateful and praise God for deliverance. 2 Kings 4:34.

Conclusion

Life is an entanglement of battles and one of such battles is fear. It is a constant daily fight. There will always be something to be afraid of or worried about. If fear is your life style, then it is an attitude. Rid it off today. If you overcome fear today, you can be sure you will draw from same source of power to overcome again. Fear has torment; faith is the victory!

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment. He who fears has not been perfected in love.

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

God bless you.

A sickness free life

There is a revelation in Romans 8:11 that God used to liberate me from the grip of sickness. The drug that was given to me during the time of my sickness has the tendency to go to the wrong places, leaving the places with problems, and it will go on to the places without problems.
